Science Terps have the best of both worlds.

» ON CAMPUS

Students have opportunities to do undergraduate research in world-class laboratories under the mentorship of renowned faculty researchers.

» BEYOND MARYLAND

Students are only a short commute from one of the nation’s largest concentrations of biotech firms, federal research labs, and research hospitals.

Research internships and clinical internships are the most common among chemistry, biochemistry, and biological sciences majors, but students also find opportunities to apply their classroom learning to industry, science education, and community service. Most students do more than one internship during their undergraduate years.

Get Started with OUR

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) website offers a premiere toolkit for students to prepare for, obtain, and succeed in undergraduate research experiences.

Want to meet with someone in person? OUR’s team also hosts office hours, where they can discuss strategies for locating and applying to research opportunities, amongst other related topics. Learn more here.
