Report to office hours & course discussions

Students can bring specific questions about course topics to discuss with their instructor or TA during office hours or during course discussion sections. Dates and times to report can be found in a course’s syllabus or on ELMS-Canvas.

If a student earns a midterm grade of U or below C-, then they should report to their instructor or TA’s office hours for learning enrichment.

Come prepared and bring specific questions about course topics for discussion.

Start or join a study group

Students can always work out specific questions or challenges with their peers during a group study session.

Guided Study Sessions (GSS)

The Guided Study Sessions (GSS) Program offers free, regularly scheduled group review sessions for students in traditionally rigorous courses.

Based on the Supplemental Instruction (SI) model, trained peer facilitators plan and hold two, 50-minute study sessions per week to help you practice and put difficult material in perspective. GSS Leaders have previously taken your course and earned an A, so they know what it takes to stay on track in lectures and prepare for exams. Go once, a few times, or attend every session—it’s never too late to start attending GSS.

Data suggest that students who attend GSS more frequently earn higher course grades.
